Neolith (or alternative) for a fireplace?

Hi All

I’ve been reading a lot of concerning posts about Neolith counters and have ruled that out as an option.

In addition to our kitchen reno we are putting in a double-sided fireplace/room partition and have begun thinking about cladding options. The house is contemporary so this will be a linear fireplace that goes floor to ceiling. One possibility we were considering was marble slabs but cost and difficulty of install are concerns. I saw the attached picture of end-matched Neolith and began considering this. I spoke to a guy at the stone yard who was pretty encouraging and he recommended a very experienced fabricator.

Was wondering if anyone on this forum has used Neolith (or something) to clad a fireplace. FWIW the specific model of fireplace we are considering enables combustible material to be placed up to the viewable opening. We have also been considering wood cladding (white oak nickel gapped).

With Neolith, it’s all about the fabricator/installer. It is used to clad buildings and walls throughout Europe. It’s been a disaster in the US due to poor fabrication.

if its going to get warm use natural stone.

I've used slabs of limestone and quartzite. I would use natural stone for a more organic feel. Lots of choices out there.

Hi - we are considering a neolith fireplace wall cladding for the wall surrounding our zero clearance fireplace. Wondering what you ended up doing?

No we finally just did drywall and it came out really nice IMHO. Probably should have done lime plaster but we got concerned about the kids dinging it. Drywall is pretty easy to fix and it worked well with our space. The fabricator we were working with for the kitchen steered us away from Neolith and Delton with his scary stories of cracking etc. The stone options were limited or stupid expensive due to the dimensions of fireplace. In the end it just got too costly for the overall project budget. Happy with our decision.
