Deb, doesn't quite look like my corkystem. The leaves on mine, whether young or old, are solid green, more deeply lobed and more pointed rather than rounded. Do you have a pic of the oldest part of the vine where it comes out of the ground? It would be white and spongy...corky.

Rhonda, I really think it's the P. lutea, and they are supposed to bloom in the fall as well as spring, so I'm hoping it blooms soon so I can see. That's the only one that had the younger striped leaves and the older less-lobed leaves. If it is, that one isn't that common, so I'm sort of excited.

I also found another type of clematis that is blooming now, and some sort of pretty little pea vine with drooping pink blooms. I need to find out what that is.

Deb, that would be cool if it is the rarer one. Take some pics of the pea vine, I'd be curious to see it.

Rhonda, the pea-type vine is Lespedeza frutescens, which is very dainty and sweet. I'm going to try to get seeds, since it was the only one I found, and I don't want to risk losing it by transplanting it, even though it's a perennial.
