Your Profile: Please Update to Include Your Zone and City

Both the Plant Hardiness Zone and our City/State location have disappeared from a member’s default displayed information within the GardenWeb/Houzz forums. That was unfortunate because it is very helpful to know both the zone and city in which a member lives when offering gardening comments and advice.

It is helpful to have the city along with zone because each zone number covers a lot of Florida! (See Florida’s zone map, below.) A Zone 9 member could be in Jacksonville or Sarasota – hundreds of miles apart!

It would be nice if everyone would update their profile to include their zone and city. It is really easy. Add the information to either of the boxes that are publicly displayed: First name or Last name. There are 40 characters allowed for each of those. Here are the detailed instructions:

1 – Click on Your Houzz in the upper right corner.

2 – Click on Edit Profile on the upper right side of the banner.

3 – Scroll down to Profile Information. Enter the information that you would like publicly displayed in the First name and Last name boxes. You are allowed 40 characters per box.

4 - Scroll to the bottom and click the green Update box.

5 – Click Done Editing box in the upper right side.

That's all there is to it!

Here is Florida's USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map. You can fine-tune your zone number by obtaining the corresponding letter from this map:

Thank you so much! I sure love this website and all of you who are still hanging in here!
