They are glass-fronted cabinets for the most part, so I think once they have light dishware in them they will look fine. I don't think they clash with the floors...the pick up on some of the darker elements of the floors. You don't want it to be too matchy-matchy. What was your original vision for the countertops and paint? I think you could do light countertops to help lighten up the whole thing, and then a light warm-toned paint. The blue/grey walls currently are making the cabinets look a lot darker, I think. Here's a photo I found online with equally dark cabinets but the walls and counters really lighten it up.

I think the floors look good. Maybe paint the inside/against wall back of the glass front cabinet a fun unexpected color. You could use foam core board as a insert. Cover foam core with fabric or wallpaper. Maybe use glass shelves and light cabinets.

I too believe the dark cabinets look great with the light and dark veins in the flooring material, and I believe the white counter tops are a great choice. In the photo it looks as if the side of the bar that faces the living area needs to be finished, and I would suggest using the white back splash material for this side of the bar. If you add some fresh colors such as light green and light blue, the area will look more inviting and comfortable.

I was thinking of more of a basement bar look than kitchen. I like the idea of a lighter countertop but not sure how to pull it off and not look too kitchen and less bar. I like the idea of granite but not sure how to match with floors. Some lighter granites have yellow or orange tones that bring out orange in floor. The whiter granites have all different shades in them. Also thinking of incorporating stone for backsplash bar like these images. Just having hard time putting the look together with the floor. Do I find countertop first or backsplash? Any ideas of a backsplash besides stone? And maybe just paint the bar back instead?

Here is my home bar which has similar bones. We did espresso veneer cabinets and MSI Calacutta Laza quartz tops (the island being a waterfall). We also did a stacked stone fireplace and then took it over for the backsplash too.

Here are more pictures in morning light. Would something like Alaskan White granite work? Any help with pendant light and barstool ideas? And paint to tone down the brown? Painter uses Sherwin Williams. Going a little crazy knowing I need countertop decision soon. Thanks for any help!

Here is a bar with light color counters. I paged through a bunch of "home bar designs" on Google search. It seems to look like if they used dark cabinets they had wall a darker color too. Maybe either paint a deep saturated color to darker tile/stone backsplash so the cabinets blend in rather than stand out. Also noticed some of pendant lights were more of a downward lighting. I'll try to find an example.

Karen Rose, I’m coming over for happy hour and to sit on your deck! :-) Beth, I am in agreement with everyone that the flooring looks good. personally, I would do a light countertop, like the Alaskan White you’re thinking of. Will you be buying new furniture or do you have existing furnitur? That may help with selecting paint colors.

A zinc or wood plank counter top wouldn't be too kitchen-y and would look totally at home in a bar.

Really like the color of the cabinets. Don’t think about the dloor and cabinets. IMHO this combo looks perfect. You are on the right track. And must say a very nice upgrade to the basement.

How about light-toned brick instead of stone? I have another thread on here about brick-look products, and this one seems like it would work in that space:

P.S. -- wow, that wall color looks SO different in sunlight! I do think you want to stay with warmer tones for both backsplash and wall color, and make sure your counters are not an icy/blue white.
