Is the wood orange as it appears in the photo, and if so, is it painted/stained or is it just an orange-toned wood?

    The wood is stained. Because screens and lighting vary, It is difficult to say exactly how orange it appears on your screen. We make every effort to have photos that reflect colors as accurately as possible.
