Are you quilting this weekend? Sept. 15-16

Hello Quilters! The weekend is almost over. Have you been sewing? I hope none of you have had to deal with the storm on the east coast.

I was able to get into my sewing room yesterday. i am doing a mystery Halloween quilt. I had it cut out and yesterday I sewed all the clues that I have. The quilt is called Boo to You Some of the fabric that I bought is glow in the dark. Not sure if it really does, we will find out when it gets dark. lol

What are you doing this weekend?

Hey, Linda! Wonder how that glow in the dark fabric does after washing? Be sure to let us know!

No sewing here. Son#1 is still home and taking up my sewing space with his college stuff. The storm had minor impact on us, and I'm very thankful. Still raining, but the winds have died down, and we've had no flooding in our immediate area.

Just getting home from time taking care of Mom up in Oregon. Flew again as fires closed freeway off and on.

I haven't accomplished much in the sewing room but do have a baby/child quilt laid out on a table to mark. Once it's pattern is marked for quilting, I'll fold it up neatly for now and get the stuff out to start my new project which is a doozy! Can I use that word here? I will now have two weeks at home to catch up - hubby needs care too - and hope to finally get some piecing done.

I sit with my Hawaiian blocks and applique now and then but that project will probably never get to the "end", I am on block ten of sixteen so who knows. Wish I could fly to Tennessee again but can't get back on a plane just now. Go girls!!

Larri, the glow in the dark quilt probably won't be washed often. It will be a wall hanging size. My son put up a cafe curtain rod for me to hang seasonal quilts on the wall outside my bedroom door. That is where this quilt will be going as soon as it is finished.

I made a quilt for my great-nephew with glow in the dark StarWars fabric and it still glows a couple years later - not as bright, but it does have a glow.

We got home yesterday from our mini-vacation to Allenspark, CO after our Myrtle Beach trip was cancelled thanks to Florence. ANYWAY, we had a great time with our neighbors who were supposed to travel with us. They have a family cabin just about 20 minutes outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. We actually saw a mama bear & cub - first time EVER - in the park. They walked very close to where we were standing. We learned how to play pickleball, too. That could be addicting!

Last night I spent a little time working on the fan wedding quilt and will try to finish up the fans for the outside border border while I watch football. We have 3 more days of our scheduled "vacation" but we have already filled them with doctor appointments and watching our granddaughter!

I’m still working on the memorial quilt. The front is made from T shirts. I’m using the shadow effect someone posted here a while back. I got the blocks done today and I’m now figuring out the layout.

I am gathering stuff up for retreat. Mostly I am taking strings and strips with me. I am picking out some fabrics to take for sashing if the need arrives. I also have put borders on 3 quilts for the Baby James Memorial Project. I took some orphan blocks and pieces and made the quilts. Tomorrow I plan to make chicken salad and pimento cheese to take to retreat.

I've been packing, too. As usual I'm bringing way too many projects, plus a tote of strings. Thanks for the chicken salad and pimento cheese, Jackie. I'll be fixed for lunches now.

I've used the glow in the dark fabric before for Halloween themed quilts. They still glow years later after the lights have been 'charging' them. It's fun when I turn lights off at night!

I've gotten the backing re-done for my rainbow swirl quilt, and have gotten it all pin basted. This afternoon I've planned the quilting, and done some practicing. I 'think' I can pull off my plan; we'll see.

I'm hoping to be quilting along with the Retreaters...

I'm looking forward to seeing your glow quilt, Linda!

Sue, my Dad plays pickleball every week, and loves it. I think they have a league. He says it's great fun.

Donna, be sure to post pictures when you finish the memorial quilt. Son#2 has requested a t-shirt quilt, and I've been deciding how I'm going to put his together.

I'm sandwiching another quilt this weekend. I discovered I made the backing about three inches too short. I've never done that before. So tomorrow I'll add a piece and finish gluing.

Yesterday I glue basted a Warm Wishes quilt that I’m making as a wedding gift. That’s about all the quilting I’ve done this weekend. Have a great time at retreat, and please post pics.
