What to do with these windows?

A friend is trying to decide what to do with these lovely large windows she has in her home. Several suggestions have been made, but many of them are not that great for this space. My suggestion was 2” faux wood blinds in white with no curtains or valance, or just very light flowy curtains (sheer) on each side and in the middle.

What are the purpose of window treatments? Light filtering? Light blocking? Privacy? Decorative?

I do not think these windows are good candidates for draperies. Yes, the ones in the kitchen should be considered at the same time.

If for decorative purposes only, I recommend nothing on these windows. I would like to see the sectional pulled away from the windows, if that is possible.

Are window treatments needed for privacy? What about the kitchen? Since it's open to the family room, those should probably be considered at the same time.

More information is needed for sure!

Privacy? Aesthetic? Solar gain? UV protection? Morning or afternoon Sun? Glare control?

Any kind of shades or blinds would work, including the wood blinds. Any kind of curtains, sheer or not, won't work because there's no place to hang them or stack them.

Hey There: Your main goal must be the function on your blinds without covering up anything of your beautiful windows and trims. Bottom up top down pleated or honeycomb blinds will work great in your situation. They do cover only the glass and you can move them to any position you like to manage privacy and light.
