Jerusalem artichokes are starting to bloom

I know I should wait until they are in full bloom to post this, but I'm so excited about it. This was an experiment for me to see how well they would do. I can see that they may do better in a sunnier location, but that banana is coming out this year, so maybe I'll replace it with artichokes, which will happily provide shade for my tropicals. I can't wait until I can make some artichoke pickles and chow-chow.

These in the courtyard (you can barely see the blooms due to the sun glare) are blooming at different times. The ones on the end that get the most sun are blooming now, and the ones shaded by the banana are smaller and taking their time.

This one was planted on the hill in front of the apartment and only gets afternoon sun, so it fell over leaning towards the sun, but I'm just leaving it there.
