I'm debating the value in adding a shower to my existing basement laundry room. The room currently has a toilet and sink plumbed/operation and a regular ole basement drain right in the middle of the room.

I am looking into what it would cost to have the concrete dug up and a drain installed near a shower BUT, to save costs, wondering how odd it would feel to just turn the space into a functional wet room. This would involve creating a shower area near an interior wall - but it would be about 3 feet from the existing drain (the floor already slopes toward it). I know very little about plumbing so wanted to get thoughts from the peanut gallery...Thanks for any input you might have.
