I would, but I like tile. What is that square above the tub filler? Is that a niche?

It is an unfinished niche. Can't decide whether to put the white quartz on the bottom or the wood matching the vanity. It will just have decorative stuff.

I would prefer to wallpaper that entire wall with a lovely floral print that echos the views of the trees outside the house.

I like the wallpaper idea as well. There are wet wallpaper manufacturers.

Continue the tile. If you ever bathe young kids/grandkids in that tub, you will be happy that you tiled that wall.

Oh, no need to change the glass in the windows. The sell very nice opaque window film in many designs. You only need to cover the lower window pane.

Thanks for your thoughts. I will ask the tile guy if he can tile the side wall. It is interesting, before the tile was grouted, it looked really stripy and not at all subtle and peaceful. (And I was having serious buyer's remorse!) That is why I had agreed with him that it would be too busy to tile the sidewall. Once the grout went on, the tile looked completely different -- more subtle like I had imagined.

great little spot to experiment with a pattern. adding accent walls can really bring the space to life.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. We ultimately carried the tile around the wall and are very happy with the outcome. Now I just need to find some art to go above the tub! (What we have now is the same thing we had before and it seems a little small.)

I can't tell if you covered the glass in your windows with an opaque film or if it is nighttime. I was going to suggest a window covering in a top down bottom up installation, perhaps a roman shade.

The bathroom looks good.

@pamal66 - Thanks. It was nighttime when I took that picture. I think I am going to put the shutters back up -- just haven't done it yet.

@karen rose -- Here are pictures. The bathroom is purposefully neutral and subdued (which for me translates to calming). I am ready to go bold on the art to add a bit of color.

The floor tile is a 24 x 48 porcelain tile by Emil called solar white. I had been hesitant to use this tile, but was encouraged to do so on another post and am so glad I did. It has subtle wavy lines in it and reminds me of a sandy beach, which is great since I live in San Diego.

The wall tile is a 12 x 35" Porcelanosa tile called Brunei Blanco (polished). (There is also a Brunei Blanco matte, which is quite different than the polished tile.)
