Yes. I agree! The choice of colors for the rug and its size is just horrible. No idea what I was thinking.

I think it feels boring to you because it could use a dose of color! I love the Houzz article I've linked and how it shows the difference that painting the interior side of your entry door is.

Once you've selected the accent color for the door then find wall decor pieces in the same color. Good luck!

Agree. Longer rug. Also more funiture. Either a larger console table (with maybe a light) and basket for keys. Or put a chair/bench beside it,

It’s all about scale. Everything you have there is too small. Rug(s) should either fill up the entry area more fully or the long space along the stairs - or both with 2 rugs. The table should span the long wall so something 3 times the length you have now. One big statement art piece or mirror would be better than multiple small items. I’ll try to find an image that’s close to what you have with more appropriate scaled furnishings.

A fun way to jazz up an entry is to paint the inside of your front door. I would get rid of the larger rug all together.
