Is the carpet staying? I ask because although it's not a cold colour, it's not one easy to reconcile with what would traditionally be thought of as warm colours -- as far as I can see, anyway. Does it have a purplish tinge?

Post the dimensions of the room, you will get lots of advice.

If you don’t want to take out the carpet (looks new?) to make glam work, just throw rugs on top, e.g. oriental carpets. The layering looks just fine and makes for comfortable sponginess under foot.

Am thinking, if the carpet is staying, you might think of a colour scheme involving bronze, russet and plum. And I hope that repainting is on the cards, as the white walls won't help you get the feeling you want. Let me hunt for an example.

@ boxerpal I LOOOOVE these examples. The first one is definitely my taste. @Rina the carpets have to stay unfortunately. They are new and my hubby prefers carpet in bedrooms. @jengle2005 a rug would definitely do the trick. Any ideas? Paint colors too? I'm so lost, but these examples are awesome! I am most excited about the lighting!

R.O. you could do some painting of the walls to mimic that first photo. Or hire someone do to that framed trim. It would really add some drama to the room. You said warm colors but what about a neutral cool?

I am not sure your budget but if you check out places like Homegoods you might find some really gorgeous drapes and hardware. Hang them as high as you can. After you find drapes you like, find a matching color or similar color for your walls. I saw those side table lamps and the exact bench in Homegoods yesterday.

I think with those cooler (not cold) neutrals, you will get your warmth in the way it's done in some of those rooms, with textures -- think padded headboard, self-indulgent bedding, and the like. Yes a rug is a wonderful idea. I'd choose that first, before venturing on further colour decisions, as finding the perfect rug can be quite difficult, and you want everything else to work with both rug and carpet.

Since we don't know the dimensions, this is just a guess, but it looks like you might be able to put the bed in between the two windows. Then add seating by the big window. That would be a great start.
