Painting it will give you less upkeep. But I’m the wrong one to tell you that — I stained my door and used tung oil. I have to clean it and lightly sand and reseal every 6 months, but I love the look, so I don’t mind the maintenance. It’s hard to look at a beautiful wood and talk yourself into paint, but it is generally easier to maintain. And it will give you some color on a mainly neutral house.

In my opinion if you are spending the money on a mahogany door why cover it in paint?

Mahogany is beautiful. Do not paint. It will be in covered porch so upkeep will be minimized.
