I am fine with winter, but not yet. I would prefer our first real freeze to have waited about two weeks, a more typical first freeze. It was 23 degrees last night, and I still have a lot to do outdoors.

It all happened too quickly for me. (like it always does) Woke up to snow on the ground yesterday but today will be in the mid-fifties. I need to clear a space and get my garlic in - I'm way behind on clean up!

We're always warmer than our surroundings. We were supposed to get in the high 20s, but at our house I'm pretty sure it never went below 35. At about 2:30 a.m. our thermometer said it was 38. It is nice to not have to worry about the freeze so soon, so I most certainly understand how your feel, NHBabs.

On the flip side, in Spring everybody else will have blooming forsythias while we're still looking at bare branches!

Deanna - you might think about cutting some forsythia branches in early spring to force inside and enjoy that beautiful yellow! I don't have anything like that at my current home but I used to cut forsythia and apple branches at my former place. Winter is so beastly long here and I got such a kick out of it.
