Bed in front of window?

Hi I would like put my bed in front of this tiny window (see pic) I have an open iron head board that will keep the view and light of the window and that I can paint any color and I'd like to put curtain panels on the window behind the headboard to create a softer vibe and coziness. My ? Is should I do small valance too? Anyone have any good inspiration photos of a bed up against a window that also happens to be slanted?! I see pics of one or the other but never both. Btw I'd like to move my bed there to create more space in the room. It's a bit cramped w the bed where it is now. Suggestions appreciated :)

    I love you you room looks now. I had a bed in front of a window once and it was hard to sleep because of the noise from weather and people outside

      I would think twice before putting my headboard up against a window. The light, draft from the window, obstructing it with a headboard are a few negatives. When you have a small room, you need to furnish to scale. How much room will really be gained by just rotating the bed?

      Well its not drafty or noisy by the window it gets a bit hot as a matter of fact ;) Here's the idea of valance idea since its not too high I thought a 6" valance could work to create more of a canopy feeling.

      Once you move the bed there, most of the light will be blocked by the headboard and the pillows. I don't see how a valence would fit. It would be only inches above the headboard, I think. If you really want the bed there, then I would suggest moving it and taking another picture and we can help you from there. Most likely, I think you will need to have a long curtain rod, at least the width of your bed and hang large panels to make it appear as though the window is significantly wider.

      Why not create a canopy over your bed in it's current location.

      For the canopy look, attach the curtain at the top of the slanted part, swag it back along the slant in the ceiling and have it hang down the wall behind the bed.

      Yes I was going to do that. I have another window to the left. You're right I should take a pic then after its moved but in meantime of anyone can find a good inspiration photo pls share!

      Thanks I saw that one. Problem is I don't want to cover the window the light will be still coming through headboard. It's a wrought iron headboard. I'll find a good pic of one as the one I have now is

      You could use sheer curtains instead of heavy fabric. It would really soften the wall.

      Sure sheers are nice and delicate, but you must also consider if you have neighbours that are able to look inside your bedroom from the street or their own window ,if you use sheers make sure that you have a blind as well and close it at night time when the light s are on .

      Consider turning the bed so you can see the view out the window. Here it is done to fit 2 beds, but you can encase your mattress and box spring with fitted sheets so you don't see them through the headboard and it might work for you.

      It sounds as though you want to do this. How about just moving the bed in front of the window and see how it looks and feels? Then you can think about window treatments, etc.
