Yes it can be "trimmed".. Do you have pictures of it at all?

The production manager came out late yesterday and only one cabinet in one area of the kitchen was 3/16" off a straight edge and on that same run he said my dishwasher was a problem because it stuck out to far, the other two areas of cabinets in the kitchen were straight. He wanted to know if he sent out his best templater to re-template then put the new template on top of my already cut granite and make adjustments from the front or back as need be would I be OK with a 1"-1.5" overhang variance. I didn't know what the norm was and I definitely wanted rid of the 2" overhang so I agreed. This morning I am wondering if the 1/2" play is to their advantage or mine? What is the norm?

Is he implying that the dishwasher should be pushed back and the rubber gasket should be behind the cabinet face frame? Somehow that doesn't make sense because where it's at now the sides of the dishwasher are screwed into the cabinet frame and isn't the rubber gasket supposed to protect the wood cabinet frame?

1 to 1.5" is within normal range. My counters are 1/4" to 1/2" all around but mine are on slab front modern cabinets. I would prefer 1/2" to 1" so it is easier to wipe crumbs from the counter into your hand.

This is the old granite (1.5" overhang) that we are replacing with a straight edge granite. If they re-cut the new granite with a 1" overhang from the cabinet face then my drawer fronts are going to be exposed and that's not good. Also, want to add that my cabinet hardware are 1" deep bin pulls.

Oldryder, as a fabricator is it possible that he did the overhang 2" because of my overlay doors and 1" cabinet bin pulls? And if so, why not 2" all the way around the kitchen? Why 2"-1.25"?
