I believe it is a stink bug. They leave the corky spots on tomatoes. I kill them. I think the assassin bugs have the ridge down the back. I know the wheel bug does but there seems to be many different types of each

I think it's a leaf footed bug or a stink bug (same difference, they're bad). I looked at spined soldier bugs, which have little spines coming out of their shoulders. I always hope bugs like that are soldier or assassin bugs, but I don't think this one is.

It is a leaf footed bug. You can tell by the wider area at the base of the rear legs. (At our house we jokingly refer to that area as 'fat calves'.) Kill it. Kill them all. They feed on fruits---peaches, plums, cherries, tomatoes, peppers, watermelons, muskmelons, cantaloupe, etc. and they serve no useful purpose. There is no such thing as a good leaf-footed bug----they all are highly destructive and their population has skyrocketed in OK over the last 10 years. Every one of them you can find and kill now is one less that will overwinter and produce dozens of babies to attack your garden next Spring and Summer.
