Your house looks like it is more traditional in design. What is the decor style in the rest of your home?

Thanks for the question! We are in the middle of updating the design for sure - it’s a bit more contemporary but not as “modern” as some other homes. That’s why I was leaning towards the sharper edges / rectangular light.

I think a Sputnik light is TOO modern for your house, even with painting walls you still have arches, etc.. Are you changing the tile? I might do a little more transitional or even more of a industrial light.

Based on the semi-circular window above the door and the tiles currently in your foyer I think something like the light in the inspiration picture would make more sense than good old Sputnik :)

I like the idea of a lighter wall color, just make sure it blends with the tile. Your trim and doors seem to be two different shades of white, I would make them the same color.

Will the entry table stay? Is this a separate foyer or combined with a living room? It'd be nice to see the whole area in context.

Agree the Sputnik is too modern. What you have now is more of an up-light shining towards the ceiling, which brings the focus to the wonderful cobwebs up there-lol! Cleaning that fixture and changing those light bulbs are not fun, I know from experience. I would look for something that will disperse light better and not be such a dust collector. :)

We are painting the trim & everything will stay as-is otherwise. The foyer is large and it leads out to an entry area then the kitchen + living room where we have dark hardwood
