does high altitude have any effect on tankless water heaters?

building a house and trying to decide on whether or not to go with tankless or traditional hot water heater. We live in NM and have been told that high altitude effects the tankless water heaters in that it makes them work harder. Is this true, and has anyone experienced problems with them.

Yes, I would also appreciate any info from Houzzers regarding traditional water heaters vs. tankless. We are building too, 3300 sq. ft. and 5 of us. Which is better?

I also would love to know... read some stuff that suggests electric tankless systems are better than gas... myth or fact?
