Thank you for responding. It was installed at 28.5 inches. However, with the mosaic all behind it, should it be lower, to look better? Does it look okay? Also, my husband and I are both 5.4 and we are reaching up to push the buttons.. I just don't know what it would take to lower it? I have attached a picture. Thank you for your feedback!

I would not lower it either.

It is not too high. Most recs are for 30” between the top of the cooktop and bottom of hood. When you say yours is “installed at 28.5 inches”, that was the measurement you meant, right? Between the top of cooktop and bottom of hood?

Possible, consider adding crown molding to the top of the cabinets to visually give all the elements some balance.

Oh I think it looks great. I had an UGLY hood that was so low DH would bang his heads on the edge. He could not wait to rip it out. Keep it at the height you have it. Have you used it? It really looks wonderful.

boxerpal - thanks for your comment. I feel better about it since everyone says to keep it at its current height.. And yes, I have used it and its very quiet, which is nice!

dcarendt - crown molding is a good idea. The space between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling is 12 inches. Would that be too much molding? thx

Doing the full 12" height would be too much. split the difference with a 6". Your are just visually softening the space

It does not look deep at all. Does ti catch all the exhuast fumes? How deep are the wall cabs?
