Has anyone ever heard of this? My basement has drywall but sprayed ceilings to gain height. I went down to check progress and the contractor has 1x8 pieces of wood painted to use as the top moulding. (since there is no ceiling crown is not an option). The sides are straight, not beveled at all and to me looks heavy and chunky. He claims the painted 1x is the go to for top trim. I have never seen or heard of this. Am I crazy to ask him to change it? Even base moulding flipped upside down would be better, yes?? First pic is the painted 1x8 they want to use, 2nd is upside down base moulding.
