Hi folks, I just bought a 1950s brick bungalow. Very excited but a bit stuck on one of the issues - I want to change the placement of the kitchen. If you look at the floor plan, I want to shift it over to the back wall in the same general room, and do a modified, open U shape. However, the window on that side is too low to put a counter across. (You can see the difference in size in the photo of the exterior) If I reduce the size of the window (and the windows need to be changed soon anyway), then I will have an issue with a brick patch on the front of the house. Ugh. I like the red brick and don't want to paint it to hide a patch. Do you have any suggestions on different materials that could be used to make it look intentional?
