Bernina makes good machines. I have always had Viking machines until the last one died and I felt like they didn't really keep up with technology so I bought a Janome. I also have my grandmothers singer machine from the 1940s. I like the Janome but I don't sew as much as I once did. What type of sewing will you be doing? It might be best to get a brand that can be serviced in your area.

There are some YouTube videos about that model and you might find some active sewing forums that might help.

Bernina's are great machines, I have 3 currently. What type of sewing interest you. I started out on a Bernina 200 series and quickly jumped up several levels. Would really like to have a 880! Never had any problems with any of mine. Do buy from a reliable Bernina dealer, it is best if they give classes for Bernina machines only. Also check out Bernina's web page. Great resources. See if your local dealer has any older refurbished machines. People who have upgraded their machines may have traded in an earlier model. Many of those are better built than the new ones and have been checked over and warrantied. I've been a Husqvarna Viking gal for years so I have no Bernina sewing machine experience, but my favorite serger is a Bernina.
