Molly yes that's what i thought- people would have to take a large step to step onto it. In my head i just assumed entry rug=small rug. Here are a couple pics of the rest of our space. The entry opens to the living and dining room and the kitchen is to the left of the dining. What do you think of the color? Too black?

Too dark and detracts from the gorgeous tile. Size is okay but push it up against the door frame all the way so no gap. If you are concerned about slush, do you need more of a practical water hog mat? I have one in the entry on my 160 year old wood floors and it shockingly blends in and looks fine. I originally bought it as a temporary solution but still have it four years later.

I don't have a problem with the color of your rug and I love how it references your pillow. You do need to go up one size. Very sweet home. :)

If you want to keep the current rug, just pull it closer to the door. In the original way it was laid out. Not like a runway carpet, but width wise.

However, if you want a rug centered on the space then you will need to go bigger.

Thank you all for the great feedback! I dont have the foyer dimensions off hand (at work) but Karen Rose i am loving the way yours blends a bit with your flooring. I'm going to go lighter and bigger and possibly go with this one since it has more shade and color variations while still being neutral:

Or this one still neutral but not gray. I like that it has black and brown bringing in elements from the rest of the house. We may do a wood bench in the entry.

I like both of your other choices... try and return one. I live in Minnesota the land of snow. Nothing worse than stepping into someone’s home and the rug is so small you feel like you can’t move or step down with your boot. And then you have to figure out how to balance and take your boots off. Bench is a must as you said. Especially if you have kids and all their friends.
