Can you send picture from other side?I can see more lighting on that side I would say you can keep the same color on that wall on left side of Tv and paint the rest lighter color,rug would be good additional piece to the room with light color since your furniture are dark color.thats all for this picture another angle would help alot

The light is a slider and the other across from tv is a wall with L shaped couch.

Any suggestions on what color rug? Lots of dark brown and black and I change decor for seasons/holidays. Always changing.

I would suggest eliminating the side tables from the TV console, to have a cleaner, less cluttered look. And maybe having a single floor lamp instead of two table lamps.
What color is your sofa? With your dark walls and light carpet, a neutral grey rug or dark espresso would go great!.

I will remove those tables this weekend. There is no room for a chair that is the end of the wall and goes into an opening to bedrooms. As far as moving the ladder to center would be great however it is a slider right there. It is a townhouse and I will send another pic.

Too much stuff ... as others have said, remove end tables from both sides of TV; The dark furniture and dark walls make the room too dark ... are you willing to paint?

Not able to paint as no time but willing to bring in more color.

You should move the couch in front of th window the chaise will create a divide between the dining and living leave the shelf angled where it is add a lighter blue curtain or perhaps light green to contrast the dark paint the tv on the wall lose the side tables and lamps to much clutter and add a floor lamp!

I would add a lighter color rug to lighten the room a bit - I'm thinking a simple print to mix with the modern artwork, like this fun yellow from Joss and Main.

Put the tv on the wall where couch was! Perfect you could even add a lower ottoman in place of the coffe table....

What an incredibly sexy colour palette! Is there a window behind the tv or a suggestion?

drapes - The colour palette IMO calls for glamourous drapes (can be same tones but with more sheen in it). Examples:



swap - If the tv can be swapped with the sectional, I would recommend you do away with the side tables and lamps for something more contemporary. example


coffee table - I think the current table is too dark for the space. An acrylic coffee table will echo your ghost dining chairs.


rug - the suggested yellow rug by a houzzer is a fabulous injection of colour to the room. Here is another contemporary example that will look good under an acrylic coffee table.


Then finish off with cushions to tie in the new accents.

Try to buy the largest rug you can fit in the living room space leaving 12-18" around the room. The smallest size to use would fit under the legs of the sofa and chairs and run right up to the TV console. The sofa artwork offers lots of fun bright color options. If not yellow, how about lime green. A glass coffee table would also work well.

You would want a rug big enough to sit at least 4-6in under the furniture. But I think you can get away with a smaller one.
If the yellow doesn't do anything for you, look up under the houzz for glossy rugs. Here are a couple I found which has a lovely sheen (but pricey) to go with your colour scheme. Again it needs to have a bit of sheen in it.



But if the wall2wall carpeting is still good, live with the other changes first and see if you really need a rug on rug solution..

from Ikea - pretty sweet deal. I love stripes with mixed prints, and it could tie in the dark furniture without being too much! Otherwise the yellow rug from earlier comes in all sorts of variations. I'd just take a lighter color out of the painting behind the couch and use that for the rug color to tie everything together :)

It looks kind of dark and boring. therefore I suggest that you change the white curtain to either a curtain with black and white design, or get a curtain that is an accent color, such as red. If you do the latter, then paint your trim that color, and piece of furniture the TV is on, and som artwork with that color incorporated in it.
