I suggest more pavement to increase the area of entrance.

Ants are drawn to dry spaces because they can dig their tunnels. If the planters are watered and have healthy plants the ants Won’t live there.. they will get flooded out of their tunnels.

There are plenty of granuals you can put down the ant will take back to the nest and bye bye ants? I do remove planters if there is waterproof issues As in water getting into the house.

I think it looks like stucco on the house so you can always stucco them?

I would get rid of planters, expand entrance walk and re-landscape.

The planters look as though they were an add on to begin with. I would remove them and update the landscaping with some contemporary plants and grasses that are low maintenance and work to reduce the amount of lawn in your front yard.

I vote for no planters. Why build a wall as a barricade to your front door? It just looks out of place to me.
