I don't think you need to freeze them to store them. Just put them in bags or boxes-

As long as you keep them in a dry cool place they will keep. For a year or more

I don't know about Florida acorns. However, I am a transplant from Missouri. The acorns there froze all the time.... even the acorns that the squirrels squirreled away I am sure froze. Because it go 40 below...... but to my guess would be yes.

Glenn, I tried storing them, but they dried out. I want to keep the meat intact for the squirrels.

I was just reading that it's hardy to 7a, but there must be a northern type, because I saw they were grown in Ohio and Illinois, but those have smaller acorns. It seems the acorns are edible and quite tasty. I'll have to check that out. Maybe I'll toast a few and see.

I freeze shelled pecans, almonds, and sunflower seeds because we dont always use them up fast enough. No problems. I just put them in a ziplock. I should put them in the food saver bags but Im lazy lol. I don't see why you couldn't freeze acorns.

Good! I'll freeze them, then, and I'll also taste them to see if what I read is true about them being very tasty. If it's true, I'm going to mad, because I've wasted three previous years of acorn harvests.
