Is the seed clean or does it still have the fruit around it? A couple of weeks won't really matter if they're not subjected to temperature extremes.

You can expect the seeds to be reasonably fresh and germination be more successful. However, if they were laying out in the sun on bare ground they could be 'cooked'. You sometimes see palms in exposed situations with seeds laying underneath like gravel. They're dead and accumulate over time. It's good to pick seeds that have been sheltered.

It will take them at least that long to germinate from my experience. I bought a bunch of royal palm seeds back in October. I stripped all of the flesh off of the seed and then soaked the seeds for three days, changing the water at least once per day. The first seedlings I had were 2 weeks later. I still had seeds coming up after 2 months. I'd recommend getting them started right away while they are freshest. Even if they start germinating, you'll probably have at least a few weeks to a month until the first leaf punches through the top of the soil.

If you collected them off of the ground, I'd recommend giving them a bath in a contact insecticide as well.
