you are sold on the sectional? what color is is and how mch more seating would you like?

i would go with light weight smaller size chairs often woods are smaller footprint

And maybe a accent table for the chair - to set down a drink or a book. I like the geometry of this one and how the color would compliment the ceiling fixture and floor. Garden stools work great as occasional tables - and extra seats in a pinch.

My MIL has a sofa and loveseat that are vaguely French Provincial in style--and I find that being able to see the floor under the furniture makes the whole room so much larger looking!

That chair above would give you the same effect--the "spindly" legs let the room itself be visible.

Tammy, if the Danish style chair doesn't appeal to you so much, you could look at one of the more transitional styles.

This one, by Wesley Hall, shows some leg and has arms that somewhat mimic those of your sectional. It's also a good size for your room at 30" x 35". I've sat in this one and found it quite comfortable. It's also very well made, which is a given with Wesley Hall. Ignore the fabric choice in the photo below. The fabric options are almost limitless.

I disagree on the fan. (Of course, I live in the desert so I have fans everywhere.) I don't think a fan should look like anything but a fan, and yours looks all right.

I agree with everything Manon has said. The only caution I would add is don't build the TV console too short. Longer is almost always better and I would make it as long as the couch.

Your present fan is much nicer than either of those suggested, particularly that second one. It is a matter of personal likes and dislikes.

Turn your rug 90° so it hangs over the ends of the sofa a foot or so.

If you're going to close the curtains, you need more panels, at least 2 1/2 times the width of the window, so they don't look flat when you close them.

If you have a toddler, an ottoman or round coffee table without glass is best. I like this round wicker one in your space.

Adding a chair will create a conversation area and add to the coziness.

I was just going to comment that you need at least 2 more panels on each side of the curtain rod. Drapes should drape when closed not look flat like a sheet thrown over a rod. The rod at both ends should be covered when the drapes are closed. No naked rod on the ends.

I'm actually a little confused as to why you have shutters on one wall and on the adjoining wall there are curtains.

A little color in the drapes would add life to the room.
