very nice. kitchen. gray owl might work (others have also had the formula cut in half and liked it). Have you tried a sample? always get samples as your lighting in your home can change the look of a paint color.

SW Crushed Ice is a very pale gray. grab a sample of that one if you can.

I also like all four of these. The aloe color would play well w/your flooring and add a little color to the walls.

I think, given the size of your house (mine is about the same size) using all one color is a good idea. You can add accent colors (not an accent wall) to individualize each room. BM Cotton Balls and BM Swiss Coffee are good whites to consider.

Beautiful kitchen . If you like gray I would explore greys with different undertones. I used a a color called Light French grey, it has a blue undertone. Interesting enough it's still a neutral color so any color could be used for the decor. It was a Behr color and Sherwin Williams has lovely ones as well.

From what you shared I assume the living areas open to the kitchen so of course you can tie the kitchen to those areas using decor.

I tried Stonington and silver chain in the kitchen. I liked gray owl better but liked silver chain in my dining room. my house is a one sided colonial so the kitchen is to the far right and then the living room, dining room then family room (in that order) are on the left similar to a railroad style but there are walls with wide opening that separate them

difficult to see that actual true colors but first on is Revere pewter (25 percent lighter), gray owl, Coventry gray (love maybe for accent wall in different room), silver chain, Stonington gray. the whites, simply white, Chantilly lace, super white. thank you all so far suggestions

I am at a point I probably should hire a color consultant. I designed the kitchen myself but the color of the paint, I am just confused because of the undertones, light, etc. I am redoing every room after the kitchen so new paint and all new furniture. my house feels very narrow except for the kitchen. so I feel the colors of the walls are crucial. also, I have dark beams and red fireplace in family room. I am going for modern meets zen meets farmhouse.

Gail, I want you to read and thoroughly absorb this article. The more you understand color the better your decisions. This is an excellent primer for the color novice. Once you are able to see the differences, your chances of making blunders from a lack of knowledge is slim to none. Karen, thank you so much. I read the article twice. It makes sense and extremely helpful. I am thinking of using the grey pattern tile as my inspiration piece or do you think it should be my quartz countertop? I am thinking since the tile is more of a focal point, I should use that as my guide. I have a couple of paint swatches and none of them are right. so tomorrow I am bringing the tile with me to Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams. Does this concept apply to all colors or just gray? Also, what do I do if I am painting the remainder of my house before I purchase new furniture?

I think you should paint all of the rooms the same color. It does really help open things up. I have narrow halls and steep skinny stairs in my house. I used BenMoore halo on the walls and ceiling (ceiling with only 50% of the pigment) and it looks so light and airy instead of narrow and confining.

Just read that halo has green undertones. I honestly think some of this under tone color theory stuff is B.S. (Ready for some serious push back on that.) You need to pick a few colors and paint 14x14 swatches of them on your walls in a few different places in each room so you can see the different areas of light on them at different times of day. I just went through picking exterior colors and had a hell of a time. I used a color consultant and she was of no help. Ultimately my husband, who is completely unartistic, had the best eye and gut instinct about color. Theories be damned!

Thank you Kendrah and Kitchen Design. Kendrah, I get what you are saying. I have seen Revere Pewter in other houses and on Instagram and looks beautiful. But in my house it looks horrible, so dreary and muddy and I even lightened it. I think there are so many Dynamics, lighting, floor color, trim color, etc. I definitely will go with the same light and airy Color scheme in each room but might do an accent wall that ties with the kitchen. in my office I used BM gravel gray as an accent wall with a pale yellow and it looked amazing. in the waiting room used gravel gray as an accent wall with white. it all flowed and the accent wall gave depth.

The reason I suggested Dunn-Edwards Muslin is that I found it to have no obvious undertones. I used it with great success in one of our 3-story buildings in the public areas...with a variety of exposures and lighting (both artificial and natural). The undertone "theory" is solid. It takes a little time to train your eyes to compare one hue with another, to determine if you are working with green, blue, violet or yellow. It takes patience but it really pays off. I determined your best paint was the Muslin, as your floors have no blue, green or violet...at least from what I can see on my monitor. An interesting note about the Muslin was a number of residents stated they thought the spaces would take on the look of a submarine!. Well, when a swatch had been painted, the Muslin interracted with the existing, old paint. I had to do some fast talking and stated if once it was finished and if they still felt the same way, I'd re-do it for free! I never had to do that because they all loved it. I have a photo I'll provide, but the lighting throws off the actual hue, and it's still very pretty.

Dunn-Edwards Muslin is slightly green-yellow hue family.

Yellow yes....no green as there is no black pigment. :)

I like Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray.

update: I brought my backsplash to the paint store. They put the tile under a machine to provide the best Benjamin Color. It worked. I narrowed it down to Shoreline and Silver Bells. I really like silver bells its soft but my only concern is that it gives off a purple tint which I don't want. I want the walls to be a light grey. I do like shoreline as well. I am torn. Has anyone used anyone of these colors?

I want to thank everyone for their input. it was helpful. I am going with Benjamin Moore shoreline. Will show pictures when it's done.

my contractor wants me to tell him by tomorrow matte or eggshell? I don't know. he said eggshell shows every inperfection but it's more washable then the matte. he thinks the matte looks better but it's not as washable. he said Benjamin Moore matte paint regal select holds up well. also I picked super white for trim and moulding in semi gloss. he will do a flat white on ceiling but suggests using the generic BM white. shouldn't I use Super white flat too match exactly for the ceiling or doesn't it matter? super white is very white so I don't want any issues with the ceiling but don't know if it in fact should be the same white. I need to let him know by tomorrow. your help is appreciated.
