Looks like Anigozanthos flavidus 'Big Red'.

I love kangaroo paws; the flowers are effective for many months. But in my garden, they get 2-3 years, and then need to be replaced. Year 1, they bloom nicely. Year 2, they put on a fabulous show. Year 3, they may throw up a few spikes. After that, I rarely get any more flowers, no matter how many years they keep their green foliage. I've tried dividing them, etc., to no avail.

Some gardeners manage to keep them going for about 5 years before replacement; the species or cultivar has an impact on the useful garden lifespan. You might want to factor in the costs for adding a few new ones every year to keep the display at optimum levels.

Not all varieties of kangaroo paws are equally drought tolerant. I love the plant myself, especially the red and orange varieties but as they are not fully winter hardy in my climate (likely due to wetter winters than they prefer rather than cold), I grow them as container plants or annuals and find they need pretty routine watering during our dry but quite cool summers. Some cultivars will have a growing notation for "water occasionally" but a preponderance do note 'regular irrigation". I would not consider anigozanthos to be a prime subject for a very drought tolerant or xeric landscape. And if that indeed is 'Big Red' in the photo, that is a cultivar that does require regular irrigation.

I will go out and purchase the Big Red 'Paws and plant them. Yes, I will have irrigation to my site so I can provide drip. I also read up on the suggested article about anigozanthos overview. If they last 3-5 years I will be happy with that, but have a feeling they will love the site as it is sunny, provides good drainage and will be with other plants of similar needs. Once planted I will post a photo although won't be as lush and grown as the subject, of course.

I have had these in my San Diego garden for 5 years now, and they are still going strong. They get regular, though scant irrigation, and this year for the first time, I cut the leaves to the ground to encourage fresh growth. The flowers have bloomed massively every year with no special fertilizer or care. They get a lot of west-facing sun.

I used it on a tablet rather than phone and haven’t tried it on a computer to see what is different. You just need to download a photo on your computer and then upload to the image search. A good skill to have when many folks (particularly Pinterest users, but I have seen example with a pro here on Houzz posting an image of someone else’s work) don’t bother to credit the source, either the photographer or the designer.
