BM Shoreline looks lavender!

I picked Shoreline for my bedroom renovation because everything I’ve seen and read says it is a perfect light neutral. When I saw it up on the walls I see cold and purple walls! I get morning sun in the room as it faces east. What do you think? I wanted a warmer color, since it’s a master bedroom, so I might have them change it to Revere Pewter? Note there is only one coat up so far, but I can’t imagine it changing too much...

Follow artistsharonva's advice. To make it easier, paint a poster board and you can then easily move it around the room. Don't rely on the tiny paint chip to make your choice.

As seen in photo, light changes hues in color. It does look lavender in daytime shadows. I would choose another color. Paint a sample in shadow area & direct sunlight. Nighttime can use different bulb hues to adjust to your favorite tone. Grey is tricky, but the correct shade in the correct lighting can be gorgeous.

I have decided to change it to Revere Pewter to get a little more warmth in the room. I’ll be adding color with bed linens and decor. We are doing The Frame tv which has changing art work. So there will be color, I just want to do a very neutral but light back drop. Thanks.

Actually Shoreline is a light shade of yellow, the same as Revere Pewter. . Did you try different lights before you start a new paint?

Thank you I have read that article before! Yellow huh? Haven’t heard that! I had them put it up in a small area and it will work. I’m familiar with the color as I have it in a guest room. I don’t mind it leaning green which is what I have seen it do in my guest room (same sun exposure). Thanks all for the remarks.

Hi Karen, I have used Revere Pewter on several projects and it has never shown purple. Is it possible that there was a mistake made by the paint store? It can have a slight greenish tint in some lights but on the whole is a very easy to use neutral. I have also used Shoreline, and it is a neutral light grey that blends very well with with warm and cool tones. I am using it next week as a wall color in a master bath with Kendall Charcoal Cabinets and white/grey marble floors. The room is facing South.

Perhaps your Shoreline or Revere Pewter is in a North facing room and cooler tones are showing up? I have used Revere Pewter on projects in East/West facing rooms, and South facing rooms with no cool tones showing up. Best of luck to you in your search for the right paint colors... it often is not an easy task. Be sure to get samples and I have found that it is worth purchasing quarts rather than the sample pots for more complex colors. The samples are often a bit off....
