How will an 8 x 16 room look like?

Hey people..
So I have an ancestral home which I am planning to reconstruct, with slight changes in it.
I was planning to combine one small room, which is currently 8x9 and a small portion of a verandah, to make a bigger room which approximately will be 8x16.
My worry is, will 8x16 look odd for a room?
Do you guys have any suggestions for such a long room?
