Sorry for the double post. The original post from a few days ago did not appear on the forum until a couple of days later, so I thought I did not post correctly.

It is OK to pot the plant on the medium, not in it. Let them continue to grow high and low. Use a rhizome clip or 2 to hold it firm. Or do not divide. It is better to keep one or more grow points. If your plant only has one grow point then do not divide. If the medium is shot then replant the whole thing. The back bulbs are beneficial and help provide for the roots, new bulbs and flowers.
