A trio of vases over the fireplace and switch out the mirror for artwork. This would bring some warmth to the room.

what comes to mind is a wrought iron styled piece of some sort hung from the arch....I found some pics on Houzz but it would not post to this site! You can look them up though under wrought iron wall hanging.

Hmmm, have you thought about getting rid of the whole box completely? Looks like you'd have a much nicer opening without the tv enclosure, the arch would be complete. Do you know if there is flooring installed underneath? If so I'd spend a little and get rid of it. It looks like a leftover '90s tv cabinet and dates your house.

You need to have that removed. That is just way too awkward and weird. Remove that TV casing, just leave a wide opening, and find another home for your TV.

I would consider removing that whole thing completely if you can. It kind of looks like an afterthought and just doesn't look quite right under that big beautiful arch. If that isn't an option then maybe try a big see-through cube shelving where you could display some pretty vases and nick nacks from either side. Just keep in mind whatever you put up there isn't going to be fun to dust.

I think it is best left empty to no bring attention to it . I would get a piece of art for above the fireplace as that mirror is too small and reflects nothing worth seeing twice

Either close it in and reframe the arch in the remaining space or remove it entirely.

Put the tv over the fireplace and open up the arch.

I'm not a fan of putting the TV over the FP, but that wart coming out of the side of the wall needs to go. It was a very strange add on solution.

I’m with you Beverly, but looking at the other pic of the space it didn’t look like there was another spot for the tv. I had a similar room in that the only room big enough for a seating area and tv had no wall large enough for a tv, so over the fireplace it was.
