I am the poster who started a thread of painting my kitchen cabinets Flora (a lovely light green gray). I bought a sample and painted a big board and it just does not work. It is too light and blah for the area. Back to square one.

I am back to thinking a medium shade of gray with a blue hue. Some gray blue paints I bought samples of screamed blue when I painted a board with them. I do not want that. I want it more gray but not a dull gray. It cannot be too light but I do not want it really dark either. It is not a huge kitchen and it is not open concept. The floors on either side of it will be wood (well, CoreTec Pro Plus vinyl) of a medium brown, with some shading. The kitchen tile will be remaining the same....long story, but no chance of changing it. And that is the issue. It is an off white with some beige/gray shading and light colors look blah and makes the floor look dirty. I have a U shape with cabinets and the other wall is a counter with bar stools (not an island). I would like to paint the U shaped area one color and the bar stool area another, but that is not absolutely necessary. Everything else is a clean slate. Wall color will be changed, and there will be new countertops and backsplash. I had my heart set on white countertops with a little veining and white subway tile. Not sure if that will work. The adjacent rooms will be painted the same (yet unknown) color. All my appliances are stainless steel.

So....give me all your ideas, please!!! I do not want anything too trendy. I do not want white, cream or brown. If you think a medium shade of gray would work best, any suggestions? I am open to all ideas!!

Here is a picture of my floor.....the achilles heel in this whole project. Again, no chance of changing it. However, I am going to paint the grout with one of those grout epoxy paints.
