Lovely space. But we can't help much without seeing the floor plan with accurate measurements including how this space relates to the rest of the house. Raised foundation, slab, is this room on a second floor? (re plumbing changes)

Do you have a shower that we can't see?

Wrecking bar to the entire tub & assembly. The angled wall is not a supporting wall so that can be changed easily...depending on what is on the other side of the wall. That's why we need to know how the room relates to the rest of the house.

Budget? DIY abilities? Wish List?

At a minimum, you'll be looking at replacing floor coverings under the heading of bigger expenses. Also, making some window changes? What is the exterior cladding/ siding?

You might have the option of advertising the tub as a freebie if its new owners will have it removed. Depends on who you want to let in your home and who they propose to do the work of removal. Curtains and painting are the last steps in a remodel!!! You're unlikely to achieve much in the way of a new look when approaching it backwards!

I don't suggest allowing this be removed as a freebie, due to liability issues.

I think your best bet is to have a local pro come take a look, and discuss new options for the exposed vanity area., as well as the tub. Consider what will function best for you - storage, exposed tub, updated vanity, dressing room? You will run into less construction by getting those ducks in a row first. Do it right, and you'll do it once. Good luck.

IMO this whole space is needing some serious attention so my advice get a designer or maybe even an architect involved and save every penny to do this right.

just bite the bullet and get it done. the angled walls, the open bathroom, everything. no way to tip-toe around this if you want it changed.

What is your budget for this project? I would sell a bunch of stuff and DIY as much as I could to remove the tub and surround, frame in full walls and a door to the bathroom. You can live on sub flooring; paint it, cover with a rug etc... until you can afford flooring. The 1st thing is get that tub into the dump truck! LOL... Your room will look so much better! I love the navy.

I have one in my master bath. I cleaned it really well, made sure it was bone dry and covered it with plywood. I painted the plywood and have plants on it for now until I can afford to remodel. My bathroom is not in my bedroom though!

Well, to take the tub out would be a big job , ..... Why do you need curtains ..it looks like you have a lake front house with no one looking in ...? Perhaps you need more storage ...I would take out the left sidewall of the stairs and provide a proper handrail to get to the tub ..then build in storage space in the curved rest of the tub wall towards the sink area . Take out the closet divider between the two sinks and put shelves instead and tear up the floor ...and replace the look with that first before I embark on removing the tub . This should update your look if you have a budget problem ...if not , get a designer in and have them make you a new bathroom including a picture window over the lake ....it looks as if you have a nice view ...why not include it into your big wonderful bedroom ...??? I would go slow but replace the flooring and look for more storage space ..with built ins it looks like you have things all over the place without proper storage ...? You do have the room !

I guess I got a bit confused with the curtains and paint. I think that tells me you really don’t want a major remodeling. And that’s ok. But not enough information for us to understand where your at for tearouts except for getting rid of the tub, which I think will be a huge job!!!

It’s a pretty space and quite large for a bathroom. Maybe like others said, draw out the plan/layout or take a pic of the plans. Definitely a big job.

Also start evaluating the following:

-What are your goals

-timeline

-how much to spend

-what ideas/needs do you have for the new bathroom

At least your ready to update! That’s a big decision alone!
