Paint Home Decorating Design Dilemma

Accent color to BM Abalone painted walls

My south facing living space looks gorgeous with BM abalone on the walls. I want to paint my recessed book shelf a pretty light blue/grey or green/grey to offset the neutral feeling. Abalone has violet undertones (as does my stained concrete grey floors) and looks pretty warm on my walls. I've looked on pinterest with no luck. Does anyone is Houzz-land have any ideas?

The green color is sw waterscape. Blue is sw tidewater. White is Behr bit of sugar (super white!) It looks preppy and cutesy, not the look I had in mind.

your shelf is painted as you described that you want. if you don't like, paint white same as your trim or bm comet
