I agree, you have so little floor space that if you added a properly sized rug you wouldn't see any of the beautiful hardwood.

I know you didn't ask, but consider decluttering a bit. The room feels smaller than it is because of all of the stuff in there. Also, a wider TV console (and one that didn't match the wall color so well) would help too.

OH YES! Roman shades! I would suggest picking a solid color from one of your throw pillows and add some indigo trim.

Yes, no rug, declutter, especially empty triangular shelving in corner. empty shelf on fireplace and square white cabinet near club chair. Add a pair of lamps on either side of the sofa (bigger than the single lamp you have now.) And if those two white squares near the club chair are some kind of ottomans, move them in front of the sofa and use them as a coffee table. Remove empty white frame on wall near TV. When this is done, you will have a brand new room!

Some kind of sisal coloured rug with the Roman blinds (which Gordon's posted) would look really nice
