I really don't get what's the big deal about that fruit. It tastes mostly like heavy cream to me. It had a gummy, and banana like, custardy texture. It also had some faint notes of garlic in some parts. It's unique but I felt like once was enough and I really never felt the desire to buy another one again. To me it kind of was boring tasting.

Thats kinda cool. I get Jackfruit and Rambutan at our local farmer's market but haven't seen Durian there. The smelliest thing that farmer's market had was some male goats they had one time in the parking lot..man they reeked!

Jackfruit is terrific! Durian is DISGUSTING!!!..., unless you like the experience of savoring something that tastes and smells like a combo featuring..., rotten onion, anchovy, smelly gym socks, and sweet banana all included in a nasty custard. I bought one once. Had intended to plant the seeds, but once I sampled the vile fruit I questioned why the divine creator would have ever created such a vile fruit. I threw the seeds out into the garbage. Jackfruit, I love! Rambutan is fine too.

P.S., There really is a reason there are actual signs for DURIAN FREE zones in Asia!

There must be many different varieties of durian. To some people durian tastes absolutely divine. It's a very rich, fatty fruit like an avocado. Whenever I go to the Asian market near me they have so many durian flavored foods, it's incredible. Everything from coffee and tea, to cookies, candy, ice cream, and chips so clearly it's highly loved by many. It's not like noni. Pretty much everyone agrees noni tastes/smells vile when fully ripe.

Hahaha. So funny. It's weird that mine didn't smell bad at all. It had a slightly odd smell when I first cut it open but it was faint. I wonder if perhaps the variety I had was selected for having a milder flavor/scent.

Exactly, It's the COMBINATION of sweet and gross that I found disgusting! Only had tried it once, which was more than enough.
