Are you changing the bedding? I’m sure you can see it clashes terribly with the upholstered bed. The rug needs to come out/up some, pull it out so it’s only halfway under the bed. You need some pretty artwork over the bed. Find something that speaks to you. :)

@Karen, the bedding is temporary, that I can change :) I wanted something that is permanent that can help me with the bedroom.

What color are the walls & bed upholstery? Walls look light turquoise & the bed upholstery is reading a dark green on my computer.

@ci_lantro, the walls are light green, and the bed is dark turquoise. The nightstands and the closet is light grey.

I would think going jewel tones, then. Wall & closet door colors might need to change.

What do you mean by something "permanent that can help me with the bedroom"? I like Patricia's bedding idea and inspiration photo. I'd be adding emerald green and gold to your light green and teal. Art and texture will add coziness to your bedroom. I love velvet panels for bedroom windows. Not sure what your current window treatment is but sometimes framing the window like that can add a lot of softness and coziness to a room.

How about a large painting above the head board...this will be stunning.

If you want personality, my advice is to steer clear of bed-in-a-bag bedding--it always winds up looking generic and ho-hum. Also, you can make an inexpensive headboard out of a hollow core door, covered with batting and fabric and attached to the wall.

Okay--I get it now--the bed and headboard are all green fabric, so you don't need a new headboard--my bad. I like that Nantucket Cottage photo above--exactly what I'm saying--the shams and the bed cover coordinate, but don't "match," so it adds some interest and style.

Looks like your ceiling is the same color as the walls...right? I would paint the ceiling white for starters. Taller, slimmer lamps and a pretty quilted bedspread....maybe white or some sort of design with light green in it to match your walls. Get drapes to match or just leave the white sheers. Do you have room for a bench at the end of your bed? Or a chair in the corner to sit on to remove your shoes? Another thing might be to get mirrored night stands for a little bling...if budget allows. Then, some pretty artwork over your bed and done.

Why paint the ceiling white, erinsean? I always find a ceiling the same colour as the walls makes for a cozier feel (have yet to do it in my own home) but I know most people prefer a white ceiling. Just curious as to the reason.

I always think a ceiling paint the same as the walls, looks like a big upside down box. A white or light ceiling seems to pull the room up but that is my MHO.
