I would think the chair and floor lamp would interfere from rounding the kitchen corner and going into the hall. So, I would remove both and hang a very large canvas…something bright.

We think the wall needs some nice artwork. Perhaps something like this:

Nicola interiors, would you put that right behind the current chair and light? We need the light and seating and don’t really have another good place to move those.

Can you post a picture of the rest of the room? The chair looks to be in the traffic path

This room is our work in progress. The paint and furniture are all new. We need a better proportioned something on top of the fireplace and candlesticks that are less modern ... and more artwork all together to fill the blank walls... and a new container for the plant next to the patterned chair. We need to hide the lamp wires better. I am thinking of putting a large real lemon tree in the corner on the right of the fireplace. The proximity of the leather chair and sofa didn’t bother us, as we don’t really walk through there much (there are two other ways to the kitchen). Other art and accessory suggestions welcome!

It is a lovely room. I'm wondering if a different layout would function better. Try the sofa where the console is now, away from the wall about a foot; have the 2 patterned chairs face the FP and the leather chair to the right of the FP. Before the accessories you need to get the layout correct
