Short Closet Doors?

last modified: 7 years ago

I'm renovating my old duplex (half of which is my home), and this thing was built in several stages over the past hundred years. I had to move the closet door a little, and in the process, add a thicker header, so my closet door height got reduced, and the old doors won't fit anymore. The opening is now only 78" tall, so I'm looking for doors that are maybe 77" high. The old doors were home depot mirrored bypass sliding doors (not very expensive), and the opening is 64" wide, so I think I want to keep the sliding door thing going.

Does anybody have any suggestions on a cheap option for shorter than usual doors in that space? I feel like special ordering would be expensive, and while I don't want it too look too bad, this is not my forever house, and that bedroom rarely gets any use.

Or, does anybody know of a way to trim down the existing mirror doors without completely ruining them? (not that it matters, I'll probably give them away / trash them anyways)

Thanks for your help!
