Flooding in TN is affecting me in FL

I was concerned when one of my favorite eBay sellers suddenly didn't mail my seeds and wasn't communicating. I knew he was in TN, and I knew they had had some weather problems, so I looked again today, and sure enough, he's in Sieverville (outside of Pigeon Forge) where all the flooding is happening. I feel bad for him. I looked and his eBay page is filled with bad reviews from the last month.

I don't think he makes a lot of money from eBay. He says he grows all the plants himself, and he mails it all by hand, writes everything by hand. I think I'm going to get a refund, because if his property is flooded and he has no internet, I'm probably not going to get them. But I'll let eBay know what's going on so they won't close his account.

To all of you gardeners up in TN, our thoughts are with you. I know there are people here who have stuff like this happen during hurricanes, so we can be a little more sympathetic.

I am glad that you posted this.... it really BUGS me when people on ebay could RUIN someones reputation by posting bad things about filling orders or returning calls. When someone is dealing with the bad weather it can be hard to get in touch..... when we in Florida have hurricanes we can go days without power and phones. We never know the situations that others are going through. I saw someone on another forum ragging on a person not responding to their request and I personally knew the person was very ill, but it wasn't my place to tell the party because I don't think the original seller wants people to know their personal life. I think it is different if someone sends you bad product and TOOK your money because that should NEVER happen and people need to know so they don't get swindled too.... So GLAD that you are taking the initiative to let ebay know, that is so VERY kind of you.

Sharon, if I hadn't had such a good transaction with this person before, and didn't know he used to have a 99% approval rating, with many raves, I would have probably just canceled the order, but not left bad feedback. I don't like to leave bad feedback, especially for smaller sellers who can't take the hits.

I sent him a note wishing him well and let eBay know what was going on when I asked for my refund. I told them he is a wonderful seller, and I hope they won't punish him for an act of God. I'm really concerned about him. I've bought from him for years. I can't even imagine his beautiful yard being destroyed. I have a feeling that if he had to evacuate, his seeds would be the first personal thing he would grab. He really loves to garden.

If you guys could send some prayers out, that would be nice.

dirtygardener (love the name!), I respect you for taking the time to write your eBay seller such a kind note. Very thoughtful and empathetic of you : )

I live in eastern TN. Last Friday DH and I had to go out and we encountered flooded roads, mudslides, flooded farmland, homes, cars, etc. Quite a sad sight. The sun finally came out Saturday and it was glorious for me, but sadly too late for those who incurred so much flood damage.

Good for you for being so considerate. Love the Smokies, I know they are having a tough time in that area.
