DIY Basements Design Dilemma

Very Dry Basement - Epoxy?

We are finishing our extremely dry basement. We have already used DryLoc on the walls behind rigid foam.

We have never had standing water in the basement. The floors are not totally even which we are not concerned about but the previous owner dropped quiet a bit of paint on the floor. So we wanted to cover that up.

We are thinking about using epoxy paint due to the unevenness of the floor & then using an area rug for a den.

Any advice on application? Brands? Especially any brands which allow us to chose the color. TIA!

Hello Kerry,

Not sure if the epoxy does anything for the uneveness... That'd be more these self-leveling magic goops they have.

If you really want it more even-ish, champagne taste would say large non-slip stone tiles, inset rug, built-in entertainment unit... but I digress. Rustoleum has a range of products / colors and I know Seal-Krete is good, not sure of their color range. Either way, a polished finished is more homely & less garage - ly.

As for rugs - check out some carpet tiles. They usually have a non-slip backing and have a little more cushion than just a floating rug
