I would not mix those 2 in the same space , and with that floor i would keep it simple with quartz everywhere

I agree. That floor has enough pattern, so that the counter should be more quiet. Don't forget about the backsplash, which will need to go with cabinets and counter as well.

Regarding that quartz choice you show. There was a recent thread about how a similar quartz pattern did not match at all at the seam. The veining can be matched, or come close, but with that pattern, you will need to make sure you see the layout of the counter before it is installed.

I think your granite will be fine but no quartz with it. One material.

The floor will not look too busy once it's laid down and both surfaces are horizontal so they don't read as busy as they do when seen vertically.

Oldryder - that is a good point and it's something that worries me about mixing granite and quartz. By itself, quartz is very nice but when I see it next to granite I think the granite is much prettier. Sort of like looking at painted wood vs. melamine in the same color.

cpartist - I agree, the floor really isn't a star. It is light colored - but that was on purpose, our last floor was pretty light and I really liked how it looked. The cabinets turned out a bit darker than expected/planned, so I wanted to avoid turning the kitchen into a cave with the floor + cabinets both being dark.

I think my next step is to get some samples of the quartz from our fabricator and take them to the stoneyard to see the stone and quartz together. I worry plain white will be too plain and boring. When I've seen pics of plain white counters I like the bright effect but I feel like it's missing something. Using some quartz would save some money, too, but worst case I can go with all granite and super simple backsplash (simple tile with matching grout).

I have busy wood floor with a busy granite. It works in my space very well. I would not that quartz & that granite though. If you must mix I would go with a solid quartz. That granite is beautiful though so I would go with it for everything.
