Okay, so a little dilemma and I’m seeking interior designer pros for opinion. I wanna put a TV on above the fireplace. The width of it is 61 inches. The TV I want is 75 or even 82 inches. Do you guys think it will look awkward. Does it look high if I put it there? Alternate is to put the tv on the wall on the right, but do you guys think it’s weird if the layout is like that?

What are the actual height and width dimensions of the TV unit you want, not the screen diameter? If you're asking if it will look weird if the TV overhangs the width of the wall above the FP, the answer is yes it will. Find the largest TV size you can that will fit within the current dimensions if you don't want to remodel that entire space to accommodate a large TV.

So the tv width we want is 62.3 while that fireplace width is 61 inches. Do you think that will work?

Yeah I thought so, I think I’ll just put on the right wall and keep the fireplace open. And just decorate above it

How will you put it on the right wall with the window there? Do you plan to cover up the window? Is it that critical to have such a large TV?

Why don’t you put tv on a low console on the wall the lamps are currently on? You could have sofa facing tv and two chairs facing FP, or vice versa.

If you are talking about the two small windows.. then yes, they will be covered either by blinds or like a small curtains. What do you think?

@marleneM yes that’s what my wife and I are planning on doing. We wanna keep the FP open to heat us up basically.

Yes tv where the lamps are now, you can even buy a bigger tv.

I agree, put the TV on the large wall where the 2 lamps are, with a console under it. Do not put curtains on the small windows. Leave them bare, unless you must have privacy, and then use a minimal interior mounted blind or shade.

Thank you everyone! Your input really helped. We will utilize that wall area with a console under. We will be mounting it to the wall and add smurf tubes so the cables look clean!

We have a new large flat screened TV added to our decor (sent the TV armoire to the basement) and had it mounted over a console. Best Buy did the work and ran the wires behind the wall. Very glad we paid a little extra to have this done. No wires showing!

nhb22 can you remember what BB charged for the labor of installing your TV? Did you have more than one installed?

I will ask my husband to be sure, but I think the installation was included in the purchase and the Geek Squad Gold Plan that we purchased. The Gold Plan was great! About 6 weeks after we purchased the TV, it started acting up. Geek Squad came out and replaced the TV with a new one, and with no extra charges. We did not have any other TV's installed, but they did install and set up two desk top computers and also answered any questions that we had about watching the Smart TV. We were clueless, so the program was well worth the money.

Husband told me that the install was included with the purchase and Geek Squad, but that running the wires behind the wall were extra. He thinks about $150.
