I know I'm in the minority, but I would NEVER buy a house that didn't have a tub in the master. I'm not going to walk to the other end of the house to take a bath.

When we re-do our bathroom, we are going to do the same. I say do what you feel is right for you, and don't stress over re-sale. We are a young couple with a kid on the way, and don't feel a built-in tub will do much for us.

We just did the same thing. We have a tub in the kids' bathroom for them.

There are 2 other bathrooms - the guest on the same floor has a 6' soaking tub and it is right next to master bedroom. Also, another full bath on lower level

First, how big is your house? Is it roomy enough for a starter family with at least 2 children or more? That means does it have multiple bedrooms with an easy access to a common full service bathroom. Is it small and the only full service bath is the one in the master bathroom? Is it two or more stories and are the bathrooms separated by floors? Is it a ranch style or cottage style or modern? What style are you drawn to for your renovations? Look at your neighbors. Are they approaching retirement? Is it a starter neighborhood? Is it a mature family neighborhood? .... If it is a starter and there are children then a tub is a must. Why? Because it's the only refuge for a woman with children under the age of 12. A man needs a man cave or some other room of his own. If the children are between 10 to college entry, then you don't need a tub. You will be too busy trying to prevent disasters to steal free time in a bath tub and it will simply become something that is more difficult to clean and grows mold. Once the children are gone you are going to want to pamper yourself because, believe me, you deserve it. So go for whatever you want and expand it into one of their old bedrooms if necessary. If the neighborhood is approaching retirement age then go for accessibility. The great thing about accessibility is that it is much easier to clean than country.
