I find it helpful to add a few drops of tea tree oil and wash with as hot a water as I can periodically. Personally, I don’t like the smell of tea tree oil either, so I tend to do another quick wash with my regular detergent after that again. I don’t use pods, just liquid detergent, but I find that helpful to get the awful, built up odor out of sports clothing, so I imagine it would work on cologne as well. I don’t do this often, just as needed.

I’ve been using this detergent for my son’s nasty sports clothes and my yoga and gym clothes and it seems to work pretty good. armjim: I do have borax 20 mule. I'll try adding that with the all free and clear with their clothes to see if it helps. My son thinks every time he walks out of the house he needs to add another layer of cologne. yuck!!

I never had success with all free and clear liquid except for the one sold at Costco since it has enzymes in that formula. Regular all free and clear liquid (unless it has added oxi) don’t have enzymes in the formula. All free and clear makes a powder formula sold at Walmart and other places that really works well too. Would try the powder version or Costco version.

I use All Free and Clear powder, with hot and at least 3 rinses, especially if anyone has allergy issues. A soak with a warmish pre-wash then the regular hot wash would also help. But I have had trouble getting perfume smells out of family members clothes.

IMHO, ALL detergent does a fair enough job but certainly is not a workhorse which you may need...problem is finding one that's Free and Clear. Personally I have better results with Tide F&G Powder.

Always...is it you that has issues with Tide? Regardless as mentioned above I'd try a dose of Borax..hot water, but not blistering hot on darks and colors, extra rinse......or try Ammonia...add a cup of ammonia with the detergent...(.NEVER use ammonia and chlorine bleach together).
