I don't know all of the uses they were put to by any means, but I do know of one: night lights (or maybe just for decoration) in the bases of pole lights from maybe around 1940-1950. They would shine through a translucent plastic top. My family owned such a lamp when I was just a sprout, and I've seen a few in antique stores since then.

I've run across a few bath combo fixtures (fan, light, night light, maybe heater) that used a ~7 watt medium base night light. I don't know whether anyone makes these fixtures still, though. LEDs are taking over fast.

You could use it in an outdoor fixture or an indoor decorative one where you want only a little light.

You could screw it into a plug-in medium base socket adapter and use it as a simple unshaded night light.

But now we have LED night lights that use a fraction of a watt, and LED retrofit bulbs that produce room-filling light on the 7 watts that night lights used to use. So I have to wonder, why bother? They're obsolete. I suggest that you recycle them.

Thanks. I do know that LED lighting is the way to go, but I hate to throw away good stuff if it can be useful. I do have several plug-in medium base adapters, so I will trade my C7 night light for the plug-in adapter until I have used up what my cousin gave me.
